1. One night when I just could not sleep,
upset, I soon began to weep.
I felt unloved, alone,
betrayed.
My happiness and joy had strayed.
Instead of lingering in my bed
and letting thoughts enter my head,
I quietly stole down the stairs,
and brought with me my deepest CARES.
2. While the others were asleep,
I tiptoed down without a peep,
as in the darkness of the house,
I crept as quiet as a mouse.
Through windows looking at the night,
illumined by a flickering light,
I sat in darkness very still,
as PEACE my heart began to fill.
I felt my parents by my side,
although I knew they both had died.
3. With radiant smiles, sweet and true,
they said, “We’re here to COMFORT you!”
I smiled and thanked them for the love,
they shared with me from up above.
They said that things would be alright,
that God would give me heavenly sight,
So I would know the things that He,
ordained and had prepared for me.
4. I saw His gifts and heavenly plans,
were showered from His loving hands.
As I felt God smile at me,
I lovingly began to see
His hand in all my sadness too,
and all He planned for me to do.
As I began to write this poem,
I then no longer felt alone.
God showed me that when feeling sad,
His HEALING words would make me glad.
5. TRUST His love and thank Him too,
for gifts and trials He sends to you.
I realized God’s love appears,
not just in joy but all our tears,
in clouds and rain, darkness and sun,
at morning and when day is done.
Remember for your whole life through,
He has the best in store for you!
“I know the plans I have in mind for you”, says the
Lord, “Plans for peace,
not disaster, to give you a future and a
hope." (Jeremiah 29:11)
