Hibernate a Little

1. Hibernate a little
in the winter like a bear.
Everyone needs extra REST.
Make sure you get your share.
When the winter brings the cold
and snow beneath your feet,
cuddle up in warmth at night
beneath a flannel sheet.

2. In the morning, if there's nowhere
you have got to be,
with your robe on, LOUNGE around,
and drink some fresh brewed tea.
Take the phone then off the hook,
and read the morning news.
Dip some cookies in your tea,
and dream about a cruise.

3. Put your feet up on the couch,
and rest your head upon
your very favorite pillow,
softly stuffed with feathery down.
Smile and VISUALIZE how others
could be resting too,
enjoying all the pleasure
that you're feeling through and through.

4. Pour another cup of tea,
and savor every sip.
Enjoy the flavor of each
tasty cookie that you dip.
When you're rested
find a cozy HOBBY you can do,
while you are warm and snuggly
with a winter scene in view.
Spend some winter days like this,
as often as you can.
You will have more time to rest,
relax, to dream, and plan.

5. It really is alright to hibernate,
and HEALTHY too.
If it is good for bears, it might be
just as good for you!
You still can be productive,
just make sure you make the time
to learn a lesson from the bears,
and words within this rhyme.
Whenever you begin to tire,
recall this poem and then,
just hibernate a little,
until you feel great again!

Make Your Home a Happy Place!

1. Make your home a happy place
where love and laughter dwells,
where lovely flowers, and luscious meals
create delicious smells.
A place where PETS can scamper
through the day so happily,
then in the evening rest beside you
warm and cozily.

2. Where CHILDREN feel safe
and with their toys just love to play.
And when they're grown, still find their home
the nicest place to stay.
Where teenagers find true support
from parents, day and night.
While learning from example
what is truly wrong or right.

3. Ensure their FRIENDS feel welcome,
even though they may have flaws,
for building youthful spirits
is a truly worthy cause.
When they're young adults you must
support them through and through.
They need your strength to help them cope
with life in all they do.

4. Make your home a REFUGE
from the trials of daily life,
where outside on the doorstep
those who enter leave all strife.
Be sure to stop what you are doing
whether night or day,
to listen to whatever
family members have to say.
For if you remark "later"
you may lose your chance to hear
the deepest thoughts within their hearts
and what they hold most dear.

5. These times are the most precious gifts
a family can possess.
They should be treasured more
than wealth or vain worldly success.
Making HOME a cozy happy
place for those you love
enables God to shower joy
and wisdom from above.
He will help you realize
as long as you might live,
these truly are the choicest blessings
He could ever give!

At Home With God

1. Soft pastel curtains that flow in the breeze
on my kitchen window that frames lovely trees.
A sweet scent of FLOWERS, pink, yellow and blue.
Birds chirping, as over the flowers they flew.
The rustle of leaves ever gentle and mild.
I paused by my window to watch for a while.
A beautiful butterfly, bright orange in hue
flew onto my rosebush all covered with dew.

2. Then came a yellow and black butterfly

fluttering its wings as it soared through the sky.
A tiny brown chipmunk chirped on the ground
while a lady bug flew without making a sound.
This scene was as CHEERFUL as any could be
bestowed from God’s love and desire to please me.
He carefully monitors everyone’s life
to lovingly guide them and free them from strife.

3. He made all creation to heal and bring joy

to our bodies and senses in hopes we’ll employ
our talents and all of the gifts that He gave
ensuring for loved ones a rich life we’ll pave.
My kitchen then burst with AROMAS and vim,
of freshly brewed coffee that soon was to brim
from loveliest teacups of china and gold
with colorful flowers I loved to behold.

4. I delightfully passed the whole morning in peace,

reflecting on all of the gifts of God’s grace.
I rested, enjoying my YARD and my home,
and chose not to wander or aimlessly roam.
God sent so much wonder and pleasure to me,
surrounding my life with the beauty I see.
Often when weary or not at our best,
we tend to go searching to end our unrest.

5. But sometimes the happiness we’re looking for

is really no farther than our very front door!
So try and find God close to HOME every day
where He often is hidden in an elusive way.
He waits to embrace you with hope and with love
to grant you the gifts you've been dreaming of!

“How wonderful to know that you

are thinking about me constantly.”
(Psalm 139:17)

Leafless Trees

1. Leafless TREES with spindly arms,
some might view devoid of charms,
with hands and fingers lifted high,
against the backdrop of the sky.
When snowflakes take a winter break,
and grounds grow dry, it’s no mistake.
God knows a small respite is due,
to rest, relax, and to renew.

2. The SKY, once blue, with pastel colors,
remains a dusty gray for hours.
From streets once bustling, now the cars
are parked at home beneath the stars.

3. FAMILIES sit by hearth filled fire,
chatting until they retire,
thankful for a hearty meal,
and pastry baked with warm appeal.
At night sleeping with no regrets,
they wake at dawn feeling their best.

4. Once again when SNOWFLAKES fall,
it's the most cozy time of all.
Instead of running to and fro,
their very favorite place to go
is through their very own front door,
where they'll enjoy their quaint décor.

5. Glancing though windows, white with FROST,
avowing not to count the cost,
the leafless trees, each arm and hand,
are now a winter wonderland!
And though the coldest days have come,
All hearts are blaze, like the noonday sun.
