The Country Mouse’s Cozy Town

1. The country mouse’s house was nestled,
by an old elm tree,
amidst lush trees and lovely flowers,
as far as eye could see.
There even was a small LAKE,
with its waters of pure blue,
Where fish could easily be seen,
beneath crystalline hue.

2. The mice all loved to PICNIC there,
throughout the summer days,
and worked to beautify the lake,
in such delightful ways.
The little mice all loved their village,
with its scenic views.
Their yards were homey, houses cozy,
tinted lovely hues.

3. In spring they planted GARDENS,
and in summer loved to swim.
In autumn they had hayrides,
then in winter cozied in.
That is when, within their cuddly homes,
their fires burned bright,
where they rested, sipping cocoa,
by the fire light.
As the crackling flames curled gently,
spirits lifted high,
while every mouse, all snuggled up,
breathed a contented sigh.

4. Occasionally they all enjoyed
a SOCIAL or sleigh ride,
which livened up the village,
where the mice loved to abide.
It truly was a peaceful life,
that they all shared as one,
from morning when the sun rose,
until night when work was done.

5. And so, my friend, with thoughts life is
becoming too fast paced,
when you recall the country mouse,
these thoughts will be erased.
You too can live a life of peace,
CONTENTMENT and of cheer,
If you’ll embrace the country mouse,
and hold her image near.

Flowers

1. Flowers are a precious gift
to us from God above.
They reassure us of His presence
and undying love.
Their colors, shapes, and sizes
were designed by God’s own hand.
Some are small and humble,
while the others are quite grand.
Flowers bring us JOY
and fill our heart with glorious song.
The birds and all creation
seem to try and sing along.

2. In the morning when the dew
shines on their petals bright,
It appears quite heavenly
and is a lovely sight.
Flowers seem to have
special awareness all their own,
and subtly, ever gently,
I believe they make this known.
Flowers breathe CONTENTMENT
in their stationary form,
as they sway in gentle breeze
in gardens they adorn.

3. They love to keep us company
though we are unaware.
The realization of this fact
can sometimes be quite rare.
Their individual colors
each create a various mood.
With love, devotion, peace, and CHEER
they seem to be imbued.
Daffodils bring joy,
while deep red roses speak of love.
Yellow roses are a symbol
of a peaceful dove.

4. Violets of remembrance
show devotion to all those
departed, though within our hearts
remain forever close.
God has myriad reasons
for these flowers it appears,
the least of which is not the fact
that they dispel our fears.
The flowers are clothed in BEAUTY,
in the bible we are taught,
even though they do not spin
and that they labor not.

5. God cares for every one of them.
His LOVE is just that deep!
And how much more He cares for us
awake or when asleep.
When you’re afraid or lonely,
try to think of that, my friend,
and pray each day into your life
a flower God will send!

“See how the flowers of the field grow.
They do not labor or spin.  Yet I tell you that
not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed
like one of these.  If that is how God clothes
the grass of the field, which is here today
and tomorrow is thrown into the fire,
will he not much more clothe you?”

There’s No Place like Home!

1. Some people spend their whole life through
imaging a place
that has the perfect ATMOSPHERE,
without even a trace
of anything uncomfortable,
too dreary or too old,
of heavy rain or wintry snow,
excessive heat or cold.
They desire the ideal place
could have abundant flowers,
or frequent entertainment
to enliven many hours.

2. They do not realize that
every area has its own
advantages and COMFORTS that have
formed the perfect home.
A mockingbird born in the south
might find the north to be
too cold in winter to enjoy
the season happily.
A polar bear from arctic climates
surely too would find
adjusting to the southern heat
insufferable in time.

3. Recalling the expression,
evidently tried and true,
"The grass over the fence
always looks greener in our view,”
could very much assist us,
as we search for HAPPINESS,
while helping us to realize
the ways in which we’re blessed.
If there are times we travel to
a far and distant land,
we may become aware and then
more fully understand
that we are often searching for
the things in life we feel
might bring us an exhilarating
breathtaking appeal.

4. What we should recognize is that
the one who truly knows
what’s best for us is God,
who all our circumstances chose.
He planted us upon one spot
on earth from heaven above,
just like a lovely flower,
bathing us in His great LOVE.
He fertilized that area on this earth
for us alone,
and nursed it with His loving care
‘till we were fully grown.
He warmed it with His smile each day
and watered it with tears,
then lovingly He watched us grow
and blossom through the years.

5. After we had fully bloomed,
our beauty warmed His heart,
as from a tiny seed we grew
into a work of art.
So each time deep within your heart
you feel the urge to roam,
thank God and realize,
the greatest place on earth is HOME!
