1. The
happy little country mouse
was snuggly tucked away,
within her
safe and cozy house
which she enjoyed each day.
which she enjoyed each day.
Contentedly she COOKED her meals,
like soup and homemade stew.
like soup and homemade stew.
At dawn she perked
fresh coffee,
and at dusk hot tea would brew.
and at dusk hot tea would brew.
2. BAKING was her
specialty,
like cakes, cookies and pies.
like cakes, cookies and pies.
Friends that sampled
them could not
refrain from heartfelt sighs!
refrain from heartfelt sighs!
She also loved her
garden
with its flowers in every shade,
with its flowers in every shade,
which brought her
such delight each day
and never seemed to fade.
and never seemed to fade.
Another thing that
brought her joy
was cleaning up the house.
was cleaning up the house.
It gave her pleasure
since she was
a very tidy mouse.
a very tidy mouse.
3. Her home was so
inviting, though
it might have been quite small,
it might have been quite small,
and her YARD was
picturesque,
from winter until fall.
from winter until fall.
In the autumn it was
peaceful
watching colored leaves,
watching colored leaves,
as they gladly
skipped and danced
from all the sheltering trees.
from all the sheltering trees.
4. In the winter, soft
white snowflakes
gently floated down,
gently floated down,
covering the roof,
doorstep,
and yard without a sound.
and yard without a sound.
Springtime brought
the lovely flowers
colorful and bright,
colorful and bright,
and this, to the
CONTENTED mouse,
was ultimate delight!
was ultimate delight!
Finally, when summer
radiated warmth and cheer,
radiated warmth and cheer,
sunshine, strolls,
and picnics she enjoyed
and held most dear.
and held most dear.
5. And so the days
passed peacefully,
to the country mouse,
to the country mouse,
for she was ever
grateful for
her cozy little HOUSE.
her cozy little HOUSE.
She realized that
others might prefer
much more than this,
much more than this,
but to the happy
mouse it brought
contentment, warmth and bliss!
contentment, warmth and bliss!
