The Cottage by the Lake

1. The cottage by the lake that lies 
so COZY and serene,

sits peacefully upon the hill, 
reflecting each sunbeam.

Overlooking gentle tides
that sometimes grow quite still,

the view is picturesque and tranquil, 
from each window sill.

2. SEAGULLS fly, and butterflies 
all flutter happily,

while songbirds add such cheer as they
intone their melody.

When visitors stop by the lake, 
to enjoy the view,

if they arrive with many cares, 
they leave with very few.

3. They are filled with the desire 
to live happy and FREE,

and now believe they will succeed, 
on calm or stormy sea.

4. As the cottage by the lake, 
fills them with joy and love,

they realize that home is what 
their dreams should be made of.

Delectable AROMAS drift 
from windows pleasantly,

of home cooked food, delicious meals, 
with pies and fresh pastry.

5. Just as they are filled with 
wholesome thoughts, and CHEERFULNESS,

they sense a wondrous freedom from 
all worries and duress.

They vow this very special place, 
they never will forsake,

but visit once again 
the lovely cottage by the lake!

The Timeline of Life

1. Everyone has a timeline of life,

while TRAVELING from day to day.

As we move forward each day of our lives,

there is no turning back on our way.

Whenever encountering troubles or fears,

though frightening as they might be,

We merely pass through them, an end close in sight,

as with spiritual eyes we can see.

2. Just like when taking a leisurely DRIVE,

every house and each tree we pass by

moves steadily towards us, gives pleasure and joy,

then is gone in the blink of an eye.

3. As with our problems, although they may seem,

to linger and crowd us with pain,

we simply are passing through hovering clouds,

and the SUN will burst forth once again.

I often reflect and I wonder about

where I am on my time line of life,

while picturing that I’ve so steadily passed through,

Such HAPPINESS, pleasure, and strife.

4. I’m curious to see how much there remains,

to this challenging ADVENTUROUS road,

when earth’s finally past and it’s time to enjoy,

new life in my heavenly abode.

5. It is THRILLING to think earth is only a hint,

of the wonders that exist above,

where all will be ecstasy, eternal bliss,

and a totally undying love.

So each time that pain begins crowding your life,

and your joys start to seem very few,

just think of your timeline, take hold of God’s hand,

and remember, you’re just passing through!

April Showers

1. When April showers bring May flowers

one bright sunny day,

the raindrops will have run their course,

as April turns to May.

Clouds will seem to dissipate

while SUNSHINE takes their place,

and leisure and relaxing times

will faster ones replace

2. FLOWERS that are flourishing

and brightening up each day,

will light up people’s faces

that you pass along your way.

Tiny chipmunks and the squirrels 

will scamper all around,

munching on their nuts and food

without making a sound.

3. As lovely colored SONGBIRDS sing

their cheerful melodies,

you might see them playing

happily up in the trees.

Others you will notice 

building nests quite busily,

then splashing later in a birdbath

playfully and free.

4. Take some time to quietly

sit on your porch and rest.

Make a conscious choice

that you will do a little less.

Practice saying no

to even friends and family,

so you will have more time to spend

RELAXING leisurely.

5. Every day spend time alone

in SOLITUDE outside.

Listen to the wisdom

nature’s presence will provide.

It faithfully speaks words of peace

and healing to your soul.

And there is nothing better on this earth

to help console!

Beautiful Robin Redbreast

1. Beautiful robin redbreast, 

sure sign of spring,

FLOWERS and bright sunshine 

your message always brings.

Peacefulness, contentment, 

happiness, and cheer,

warmth and cozy mornings say

that summer days are near!

2. Lovely colored SONGBIRDS 

all dance on fluttering wing.

Playfully they skip and hop 

as joyfully they sing!

The brightest yellow daffodils 

will all burst into bloom,

while pink and orchid tulips 

will follow very soon.

3. For now, the purple CROCUSES

with white ones by their side

have warmed my heart 

and bowed their little heads in humble pride.

4. I’ll plan a cozy BREAKFAST

in a sun room just for two,

gazing at the flowers and birds, 

as sunshine filters through.

We'll sip some tea or coffee 

and taste a sweet delight,

relishing every moment, 

and savoring every bite.

5. I will spend the whole day through 

in peacefulness and love,

with genuine CONTENTMENT 

life is so deserving of.

I always will remember 

with a heart about to sing,

that sunny days and cheerful moments 

all begin with spring
