“Lazarus, Come Out!”

1. Jesus went to Lazarus’ tomb
one sad and mournful day.
Martha said, “He’d be alive,
had you not been away.”
Jesus WEPT consoling
both the sisters so forlorn,
who, between their faith and sadness,
must have been quite torn.
Jesus wept for Lazarus,
but also for mankind,
praying to His Father
that salvation we would find.
Crying can be heard, but weeping
comes from deep within.
Jesus’ depth of feeling was
to save us from our sin.

2. He sympathized with us and prayed,
that we would have the grace
for all the trials in this life,
and death we’d have to face.
He saved this mighty miracle as
the last before His death,
continuing to sacrifice himself
‘til His last breath.
In raising Lazarus to life,
He showed us His great POWER
as author of both life and death,
and Master of each hour.

3. Jesus asked, “Do you believe in me”,
with gentle nod.
“Yes Lord, I believe you are the Christ,
the Son of God!”
Jesus said, “Then you shall surely see
God’s GLORY here!”
And those who heard His words could feel
the power of God was near.
Silence must have fallen
mesmerizing those who stood
close to the tomb of Lazarus,
as Jesus understood
that this would be His greatest miracle
before He died,
extinguishing man’s doubt and fear,
and Satan’s lustful pride.

4. No one saw the ANGELS
who were gathered round the tomb,
as heaven soon would open
and extinguish clouds of gloom.
When the angels, carefully,
the stone began to roll,
Jesus’ words, “Lazarus, come out!”
pierced every heart and soul!
We can only wonder
and imagine what took place
within the hearts of those who watched
the look on Lazarus’ face.

5. Jesus wished to show the power
that He desired to leave.
This was His great legacy
to all those who believe.
Never be alarmed with trials
or insecurity,
for we are clothed with Jesus’ power,
by His own decree.
Together we are strong and stand
against all sin and death,
PROTECTED by the love of Jesus,
until our last breath.
It's then, we too, like Lazarus,
will each hear Jesus say,
“Come my child and follow me,
to your eternal day!”

The Light of the Full Moon

1. When the full moon shines
up in the sky to give us light
it sheds its peaceful GLOW
and brightens up the darkest night.

2. It lights the snow before we slumber
and while we're asleep.
Gazing at its SILHOUETTES and shadows
all thoughts cease.

3. Lovely lantern street LIGHTS on
our curved streets spread their balm
of intriguing restfulness,
security, and charm.

4. Everything seems cozy.
All are tucked inside their HOMES.
Envisioning the families
tells us that we're not alone.

5. If you want to feel a wave
of pleasure someday soon,
then gaze at the REFLECTIONS
from the light of the full moon!

"God made two great lights:
the larger one to govern the day,
and the smaller one to govern the night."
Genesis 1:16

The Happy Little Country Mouse

1. The happy little country mouse
was snuggly tucked away,
within her safe and cozy house
which she enjoyed each day.
Contentedly she COOKED her meals,
like soup and homemade stew.
At dawn she perked fresh coffee,
and at dusk hot tea would brew.

2. BAKING was her specialty,
like cakes, cookies and pies.
Friends that sampled them could not
refrain from heartfelt sighs!
She also loved her garden
with its flowers in every shade,
which brought her such delight each day
and never seemed to fade.
Another thing that brought her joy
was cleaning up the house.
It gave her pleasure since she was
a very tidy mouse.

3. Her home was so inviting, though
it might have been quite small,
and her YARD was picturesque,
from winter until fall.
In the autumn it was peaceful
watching colored leaves,
as they gladly skipped and danced
from all the sheltering trees.

4. In the winter, soft white snowflakes
gently floated down,
covering the roof, doorstep,
and yard without a sound.
Springtime brought the lovely flowers
colorful and bright,
and this, to the CONTENTED mouse,
was ultimate delight!
Finally, when summer
radiated warmth and cheer,
sunshine, strolls, and picnics she enjoyed
and held most dear.

5. And so the days passed peacefully,
to the country mouse,
for she was ever grateful for
her cozy little HOUSE.
She realized that others might prefer
much more than this,
but to the happy mouse it brought
contentment, warmth and bliss!

Flowers That Bloom in Winter

1. During the winter when spirits are low,
and everything is cold as ice,
when earth is a frozen wasteland it seems,
and nothing but WARMTH can suffice,
when trees are all gray and brittle,
while the earth cracks beneath your feet,
when sunshine is scarce and longed for,
we all need a cheerful retreat.

2. We may not have time to TRAVEL,
or money to pay for a trip,
but one thing that's sure to have great allure
does not take great power or wit.

3. Just quietly slip inside of your mind
to a place of great BEAUTY and light,
and as you envision your favorite things,
you may relish each feeling and sight.

4. In this clever way you can make the sun shine,
and make FLOWERS bloom in the snow.
The grass can burst forth
from the soft earthen ground
while the warm summer winds start to blow.

5. When I feel gloomy, and need a retreat,
I try and not waste any time,
but slip deep within to the flowers that bloom
in the GARDEN inside of my mind!
