Old Fashioned Train Ride

1. Come and take a ride on  

an old fashioned train with me.

I promise know you'll find enjoyable, 

the things that you will see.

Don’t forget your bag, 

since we'll be gone for quite a while.

Though it is mainly casual,

I'm sure we'll dine in style.

From the very moment

that we step aboard the train, 

we'll enjoy the COUNTRYSIDE, 

the scenery, and terrain.

It will be a whole new world 

compared to city life,

as we leave behind 

responsibility and strife.  

2. I thought I heard the whistle blow, 

which means it’s time to leave,

and after we have boarded, 

we’ll be just in time for TEA.

I'll help you with your bag, 

and find a comfortable seat.

Then we can rest and chat with

other passengers we meet.

Here we are. This should be perfect.  

Now we can relax.

The engine's starting 

and about to chug us down the tracks.

We're on our way now.  

Can you see the railroad station fading?

It's fun to see the family and 

the friends of people waving.

3. Did you notice up ahead, 

the VILLAGE on your right?

The little shops and town’s people, 

create a lovely sight.

Here comes the porter now, 

I'm sure to invite us to tea.

A table in the tea car

is reserved for you and me.

There’s the room, 

and what a charming atmosphere it is.

It promises to be something 

I wouldn’t want to miss.

4. Look at the delightful pastry tray 

we have been brought.

I love the dainty flowers 

on the quaint china teapot.

Shall I do the pouring 

while you choose a lovely cake?

I’m sure we’ll be refreshed 

and placed into a happy state.

These PASTRIES are delicious 

and the tea delectable.

It might be time to stop 

before we feel very full.

Let’s return now to our seats 

to view the countryside.

Later we can look forward 

to dinner around nine.

5. That will give us time to rest 

and take a little nap.

after, we can find places 

we’re passing on our map.

Come let’s go and rest now 

up until it is the time

when we will be invited 

to the DINNER car to dine.

I hope while I am napping 

I will dream about the meal.

A glass of wine, beef tips 

with vegetables has great appeal.

After all the sights 

that we will see along the way,

I’m sure we will remember this 

as one delightful day!

The Delight of Cooking!

1. I find delight in cooking and baking

and wish that I had more time

to fully prepare all the meals and pastries

that frequently come to mind.

I DAYDREAM about such delectable foods

that would have good appearance and taste.

These images leave a delightful impact

which is difficult to erase.

2. I hope that they all will materialize someday;

each carefully imagined meal.

Even the thought of their luscious aromas and taste

has a homey appeal.

It's fun to CREATE meals that come to your mind,

planning them out with a smile.

You can relax, let go, and unwind

as you pause and reflect for awhile.

3. Think of your favorite meals and foods,

and then create something quite new

which is pleasing to palate, enticing to sight,

and MEMORABLE when you are through .

4. Write down the RECIPE

so you'll remember your tasty meal again.

Someday when the perfect occasion arrives

share it with a special friend.

5. Try and compile your own recipe BOOK,

with some illustrations inside.

Then happily you can sit back and relax

and enjoy it with pleasure and pride.

Whenever you're feeling the need to unwind

and indulge all your senses and taste,

imagine in detail with utter delight

all the meals you might cook and bake!

Picnic by the Lake

1. Join me for a pleasant drive, 

down to the peaceful lake, 

but leave your troubles and your cares     

behind, for goodness sake!

Pack a tasty PICNIC lunch, 

with sandwich and a treat,

then add your favorite fruit 

that you can look forward to eat!

2. Bring some ice cold lemonade 

to help and quench your thirst,

but be sure to pack a cheerful

light, tablecloth first.

The DRIVE will be such fun 

and even more relaxing too,

with interesting and rewarding 

things to see and do.

3. Just the VIEW along the way 

will heal and soothe your nerves.  
Then when we arrive we'll sample 

my tasty hors d'oeuvres.

4. With the top down on the car, 

you will enjoy the BREEZE,

as the sight of lovely flowers, 

puts your mind at ease.

Now let’s hop into the car, 

and start our carefree drive,

permitting only happy thoughts 

until we both arrive!

5. I’m certain we’ll pass birds, 

chipmunks, and squirrels along the way, 

which surely will add pleasant thoughts 

to our delightful day.

Whenever days are filled with warmth

and radiant sunshine,

there’s nothing like a picnic 

by the LAKE in summertime!

My Front Porch

1. The view from my front porch

is very peaceful and serene,

with SNOWFLAKES white in winter, 

and in summer leaves of green.

Flourishing in autumn, 

are brightly colored leaves

inviting me to rest and watch them 

dancing in the breeze.

Sunshine in the morning, 

and shade in afternoon,

affords me comfort day or evening, 

like a restful tune.

2. Springtime’s budding trees and FLOWERS, 

with each pastel bloom,

delightfully announce that summertime 

is coming soon.

With summer now beginning, 

the most cheerful chirping bird

conveys its joyful message happily, 

without a word.

3. BUTTERFLIES add color 

to the scene when they appear,

fluttering contentedly, 

until they disappear.

Cheerful squirrels and chipmunks, 

happily, play hide and seek,

as they scamper up the trees 

then stop to take a peek.

I seldom let a day go by 

without sitting outside,

for that is where I feel content 

and truly satisfied.

4. Some may have the urge to satisfy 

the need to roam,

but I seem to be happiest 

all snuggled safe at HOME.

As I relax, I find my porch 

the perfect size for me.

Not too large or small, 

I feel cozy and carefree.

5. I love the floral cushions on

my love seat and two chairs,

and small white wooden railing, 

on each side of the two stairs.

When I choose to stay indoors, 

though it be day or night, just

gazing through my picture window 

is a charming sight.

I also love my BACKYARD, 

sitting by a flaming torch,

but nothing brings more pleasure than, my cozy quaint font porch!

Fireflies at Night

1. Fireflies at night, 
with their glowing light,
as I sit on my front porch, 
put all my fears to flight.
In the darkness still, 
lights in windows fill
homes with warmth and COZINESS, 
that give my heart a thrill.

2. Peace and love combined, 
permeate my mind.
Pure CONTENTMENT fills my soul, 
with troubles left behind.
The softest gentle breeze, 
caressing leaves and trees,
creates a deep tranquility, 
refreshing me with ease.

3. With CONFIDENCE my life, 
will ward off any strife,
I trust my journey home above, 
will be a peaceful flight.
The twinkling fireflies, 
despite their tiny size,
are filled with love, for God above, 
I fondly realize.

4. They worry not or fret, 
and never can forget,
God’s love and care, beyond compare, 
from dawn to each sunset.
Their hovering in the night, 
is such a RESTFUL sight.
A tiny kiss would be such bliss, 
within the pale moonlight

5. The flickering stars above, 
shed beams of grace and LOVE, 
each one a seed, for every need, 
and watered from above.
When you desire peace, 
and want love to increase,
the sight of fireflies at night, 
will make your worries cease!

A Cottage Luncheon

1. The steaming kettle in my 

cozy kitchen, on the stove

waits to have the oven opened, 

with each walnut roll.

Dainty SANDWICHES prepared, 

with tasty spreads and cheese,

look attractively appealing, 

and are sure to please.

2. Tiny decorative PASTRIES 

so enticing to the sight,

made with fruits and creams, 

will surely all be a delight.

3. Soon I hear the doorbell ring, 

as lovely friends draw near.

The time for chatting, smiles and laughter, 

finally is here.

AROMAS fill the cottage, 

and the room flooded with light.

It seems a perfect day, after 

a peaceful starlit night.

4. Happily the guests are seated, 

and enjoy their MEAL,

which will be remembered for

its tasty warm appeal.

5. After a delightful day 

they go all go on their way,

feeling in their hearts that it 

was such a splendid day.

Later I will clean the dishes, 

and then straighten up.

But for now I’ll rest out in, 

my lovely GARDEN spot!
